Dr. Rebecca Falin has not been far from a lab since taking her first high school chemistry class. She got her first job working as a lab assistant a week after graduating high school and spent the next 17 years working as a technician and chemist at Avery-Dennison and Glastic Corporation. She earned Bachelor degrees in chemistry and physics from Cleveland State University by taking night classes before embarking on a mid-life quest for a doctorate, completing her PhD in biophysics at Case Western Reserve University in 2007. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University and Mount Desert Island Biological Lab, she taught chemistry and physics in rural West Virginia for five years. She returned home to Lake County in 2015 to be closer to her family. In her free time, Dr. Falin enjoys hiking, gardening, growing clivias, unearthing family skeletons from the genealogical closet, and eating gummy worms.
