Painesville Township and iStem High School Celebrate Completion of New Parking Area at Clyde C.
Hadden Park
Painesville Township, OH — A collaborative effort between Painesville Township and The iStem Early College
High School has resulted in the successful completion of a new parking area located behind the iStem School
at 1800 Mentor Avenue. The lot, accessible via Mentor Avenue, will serve both school staff and visitors to both
the school facility and Clyde C. Hadden Park.
This joint project adds more than 70 new parking spaces, constructed through the development of two new
surfaces and the repurposing of the school's former basketball courts. The initiative highlights the power of
public collaboration and shared community investment.
“It is always great when you have public entities work together for the benefit of the community,” said
Painesville Township Trustee Gabe Cicconetti. “This new parking area will benefit the iStem High School and
those visiting the Clyde C. Hadden Park. We truly appreciate the iStem High School administration and board
contributing $100,000 to help make this project a reality. Also, we are thankful for the in-kind contribution from
Titan Asphalt, who donated their time and materials to help complete the repurposing of the former basketball
court.”
The project was made possible through a grant from the State of Ohio, secured with support from Senator
Jerry Cirino. Site preparation and design were handled by the Painesville Township Service Department, while
asphalt work and paving were completed by Titan Asphalt.
Dr. Anthony Podojil, President of the iStem Governing Board, stated:
“This new parking area is a great addition to the school grounds. The outstanding collaboration between
Painesville Township and our organization made this project possible. Without this kind of cooperation, a
project like this would not be able to be completed. When you have multiple entities working together, you can
make limited funding go much further for the benefit of the taxpayers, students, and the community.”
This project stands as a model for how public partnerships can achieve shared goals that directly benefit
students, residents, and the broader local community.
